This is the place to find out all about volunteering for New MIlls Festival, the kind of experience and insight you can expect to gain as well as what to bring and what you will be doing. 

New Mills Festival is two magical weeks of walks, talks and fairs, food, music and art, lanterns, processions and parties that transform the town into a vibrant hub of artistic endeavours, cultural happenings and family fun! We would love you to be part of it too. 

We're a great big community of some of the most brilliant people -makers, doers, and those that just like to be around other lovely people. 

We just couldn’t make the festival happen without our incredible volunteers.

The 2017 festival will take place from the 8th - 24th September in New Mills Derbyshire. Volunteer opportunities will run throughout the festival. Come join us turn the town upside down with something new to discover around every corner.

We have various teams that you can apply to join at this year's festival. You can find out more about them in the details below or if you can come and say hello at the volunteer meeting on Friday 8th Sept 7-9pm.

Lantern Makers - Friday 8 - Lantern Training: Learn how to make lanterns, then:
Sat/Sun 9/10, Fri/Sat/Sun 15/16/17 - help at the Lantern Workshops

If you cant make the lantern training day please get in touch as you can shadow a team leader for a session then help out at the next :)

If you're not keen on lantern making we also need help setting up and clearing up each day:)

Bucket Collectors - are needed for various events, daytimes and evenings. Please contact Rob 07794545166

Sunday 17 - help at the Bubble Fest: set up, look after the bubble man, marshal, watch traffic, BUCKET COLLECTORS and more

Saturday 23 - Lantern Procession and Street Party: helpers needed from early morning until late in the night. Help set u[p for the street party, stack hay bails, put out road signs, marshal the procession, look after a fire-eater, put up lighting, build a gazebo, direct traffic or help with shadow screens and other fire effects down in The Torrs - the list is endless… Come along to the meeting (details above) or ring Rob and find out how you can get involved!
