New Mills Festival is a two-week annual celebration of community spirit through a diverse range of activities from talks and walks to concerts, gigs, exhibitions, trails, quizzes and performances with a spectacular lantern procession through The Torrs Gorge ending in a Community Street Party in the centre of town.

The festival takes place over the last two weeks of September. The Lantern Processsion and Street party are always held on the last Saturday. This year that’s Saturday 23rd September.

The Street Party, which is in its fourth year, plays host to a diverse range of entertainment throughout the evening. From fire-eaters to morris dancers, giant bubbles to live music, the event is hugely popular and is fast becoming one of the biggest ‘foodie’ events in Derbyshire. In 2016 the estimated footfall was in excess of 10,000. The event has a reputation for very high quality, artisan traders. We’re especially keen to hear from vendors with ‘kerb appeal’, vintage vehicles and quirky and individual setups.

Sorry we're fully booked for this year. Make sure you add your email to our mailing list (on the home page) for notification for next years events.
