PHOTO ENCAUSTIC EXHIBITION - PETE KELLY: part of the BIG WEEKEND
New Mills Golf Club, Shaw Marsh, SK22 4QE Daily 9am-7pm
also part of art in windows trail: gio’s barbers (venue 30)
Peter has been exhibiting fine art photography in galleries since 1998 and continues to show in New York, with Robin Rice Gallery, where he has had 5 solo shows, the latest was 2017. Peter exhibits in London with Londonart and Saatchiart and the gallery in his studio in the beautiful Peak District in U.K.
Peter’s passion is photographing human or animal figures in landscapes, which provide a sense of scale and connection, as if evoking a memory for the viewer.
His work has most commonly been described by previous collectors as ‘calming’, which may be happening subconsciously, but the artists says he is drawn to ethereal images, beauty in nature and light.
Subjects range from landscapes and seascapes, to equestrian, urban panoramas and blurred silhouettes.
The finishing process of choice is Photo Encaustic, mixing beeswax and resin to cover photographs and replacing the need for glass. The wax finish has a painterly effect, which works with the texture in the images that have been layered digitally.
