"Having trained in illustration and design I began my career with Manchester University Archaeology department illustrating the demise of the textile mills in Manchester so it seems natural that a great deal of my work centres around the urban environment. I’m fascinated by architecture and it’s impact on our society. I tend to err towards decaying old buildings and their relationship within the growing city around them. How odd or sad or stubbornly grand they become. Mark-making and the use of out of the ordinary materials is a key aspect of my work whether I’m faced with a massive textile mill or a lone tree on a barren landscape, as proven my my recent work in the New Mills area of the Peak District."
