W & J M Barton Warehouse (Venue 40)

"I am a Visual Artist who currently makes deconstructed images of English landscapes and aspects of the natural environment.

I am interested in the human relationship to landscape and the natural or unnatural environments we inhabit. I am drawn to wild landscapes, especially those of northern England, my homeland.  My work features fragments of industrial Manchester, terraced streets where I live and elements of suburban wasteland.

Walking and music are central to my creative practice. Sensory experiences of being in the landscape, getting rained on, getting lost, rhythm and repetition are concepts that strongly influence my visual language.

Deconstructing and breaking down the visual world and re-constructing it is a cathartic working method that enables me to explore ideas about our connections to land, our environments and our sense of place."
