Paul Gent is a painter and community artist living in New Mills. He works throughout the community including in schools, community centres and youth clubs dealing with social issues, problems and prejudices experienced by both children and adults.
Using illustration, popular board and card game layouts and emotional mapping, Paul discusses and often challenges issues such as migration, crime prevention, and community cohesion. Paul also uses cartoon to document projects live and reflect the issues that are raised using graphic novel format.
Paul likes to walk in the hills, have a pint or two in a good pub and wander around towns and cities with a sketchbook in hand.
Towards the end of 2018, Paul visited Taiwan to document the Welcome Royal Lord Festival. Work made on location and inspired by this visit will be displayed in ‘embracing The Invisible’ as part of New Mills Festival
